Our Roof Ventilation Systems

Attic ventilation is a crucial part of roofing as ventilation extends the life of a roof and reduces problems by minimizing the temperature differential between the attic and the air outside. A necessity for any building, our Roof Pro Plus team can inspect and improve your ventilation systems – to ensure your home or commercial building is always protected.

Passive Roof Vents

Builders used to install various home systems that did not seamlessly work together. However, as technology has advanced, new ventilation systems have become smarter and more efficient. To learn more about our passive roof ventilation systems and products, please visit our passive roof vent page.

Wind Turbine Vents

While wind turbine vents tend to cost less to install, they are not as efficient or cost-effective as passive root vents when in use. Therefore, we strongly suggest that our customers consider choosing modern passive vents (which act like wind turbines vents but have no moving parts) for their homes and commercial businesses.

Attic Ventilation

To properly ventilate an attic, two types of vents are needed. These include vented soffits or intake vents, which are located at the downslope edge of the roof (eaves) and allow fresh air into the attic; and exhaust vents, which are located near or on the ridgeline of the roof and allow air to leave the attic. The use of an exhaust vent in conjunction with an intake vent uses the natural forces of wind pressure and thermal effect, collectively known as the ‘Stack Effect’, to ventilate the attic space.

As seen in the Owen’s Corning Total Protection Roofing System image above, cool air enters the attic from the eaves (intake vents) and rises into the attic – where it begins to heat. In order for this hot air to be vented out of the attic, proper attic ventilation through passive roof vents (exhaust vents) is required.
